For the third time after 2002 and 2004, the municipality of Baabe was elected as the most beautiful spa and recreational location on the island of Rügen in 2009. The Baltic Bad Baabe is located in the southeast of the island of Rügen on the Mönchgut peninsula and the Baltic Sea resorts Sellin and Göhren are the closest neighbors. The dreamy fishing village received the first relaxation seekers in 1893. The first hotel called ""Fortuna"" was opened in 1898 after three years of construction. The residents gradually discovered that tourism could become an important industry in addition to fishing. And so more and more guest houses and accommodations were created. The first bathing brochure was released in 1905. The beach road, the magnificent boulevard of the town, was created in the 20s of the 20th century and the plantings were renewed in 2002. The Mönchgut coastal fishing museum is also one of the sights in Baabe, as is the small white church, which was completed in 1930 and offered outdoor services. Today music events and changing art exhibitions take place here.

Baabe's beach is particularly popular with families with young children. Glew down, it offers children carefree bathing fun, while the parents relax without worries. The Selliner See in the northwest of Baabe is particularly suitable for fishing, while the land tongues and forest areas offer ideal conditions for extensive hikes and bike tours. Since 2007, six marked routes of the ""Nordic Walking Park Rügen"" have been running through the Baaber Heide, which is located between the Baltic Sea resorts Baabe and Göhren. Popular excursion destinations by bike are the large stone graves at Lancken-Granitz, the flint fields near Mukran and the Mönchguter Salzwiesen. Bicycles can be borrowed into Baabe and also transported with the narrow -gauge railway ""Rasender Roland"".
In June you should not miss the mid -summer festival with fireworks. The Viking Festival in July brings joy for young and old. In August the bulwark festival takes place on the Baaber harbor, with a lot of music and a subsequent bathtub regatta.
