The Baltic Sea resort of Ahrenshoop is located on the only firm connection between the Darß peninsula and the mainland. On the northwestern side, the place borders on the Baltic Sea with white beaches and crystal -clear water and in the southeast on the Saaler Bodden, which is more suitable for boating and fishing. The townscape is characterized by traditionally pipe -covered houses. On the northeastern outskirts of the nature reserve ""Ahrenshooper Holz"", a forest with an old tree stand made of oak, beech and citpea, and a forest edge, which has been unchanged for 450 years. On the Baltic Sea coast, a cliffrand dune up to 18 m high has formed due to the strong sea burn. The weather wear up to half a meter of sand and rock every year and store it again at the Darßer town in the north of the Darß peninsula. The swallows of bank have nestled and dug brood caves. In good visibility, you can see the Danish Baltic island of Falster from the dune. The closest city is Rostock and about 45 km away.

To the history ...
Around 1390, Ahrenshoop was to be expanded into a larger trading city in order to be able to react to the increased trade volume. However, the place was destroyed by the Rostock troops. In 1760, seafarers re -founded the current place under the same name. At the end of the 19th century, art painters settled, who were impressed by the untouched nature and in 1894 there were already 150 bathers in the village. As a result, Ahrenshoop slowly developed into a seaside resort. In 1906 a men's and a women's bathing establishment was built. The first painters founded the art cats ""House for domestic art and arts and crafts"" in 1909. And with other artists, other guests came who wanted to relax.

The sights in the village include the many pipe -covered half -timbered farms, the Schifferkirche with a thatched roof from 1951 and the artist grave stones in the cemetery.

On the third Sunday in July, the traditional toning takes place annually, in which the participants strike riding to a wooden barrel until it breaks. This barrel hangs at a height of about 3-4 m.
