Istria

Orient or Occident? Istria combines both and attracts vacationers who travel to swim, cycling and hiking. Many small alleys in places and cities pass into hills and peaceful valleys of the surrounding area. Holiday Home offers over 7,000 apartments & holiday homes in Istria with different comfort for sun -hungry.

Fjord -like bays give the peninsula Istria, which share Croatia and Slovenia, a striking appearance. The southern tip is covered by a nature reserve in which visitors can observe thousands of plants (including about three dozen orchid species). Cape Kamenjak is an Eldorado for nature lovers and thanks to the best water quality and a beach of 30 kilometers, a dream destination for sun worshipers, bathing and above all - for families.

If a beach vacation offers too little variety, here in Istria, too, you have countless opportunities to turn to the hustle and bustle inside of the country: the squirrel park in Umag with its really cute, handpades is just one of many goals that are not just fun and relaxation, but also wrote environmental awareness and nature experience.

Vacation in Istria

Romans, Venetians and Habsburg ...
The former rulers in Istria shaped the face and culture of the green peninsula. Numerous picturesque and archaic town on the coast and in the hinterland want to discover the visitors, such as Rovinj, Pula or Banjole.

Protected nature ...
In the northwest of Istria, near the city of Rijeka, the ""Učka Nature Park"" has extended to 160 square kilometers since 1999. The Učka massif with its 1,401 meter high Vojak forms a climate border that brings many rainfall and thus favors rich plant growth into the summit. Several cycle and hiking trails run through the park, past various representatives from flora and fauna. The ""Brijuni Islands"" National Park has been around a few kilometers off the coast in southern Istria since 1983. The park can be reached by ship from Fažana and Pula. Of the 14 islands containing the national park, only the main island of Veli Brijun can be freely visited. Many different and rare plant and animal species are the sights of the Brijuni Islands. Special features are an approximately 1,600 -year -old olive tree and in the north of Veli Brijuns the Safaripark, which, in addition to elephants, houses many other exotic animals.

Excursion recommendation

The “Istralandia” promises action and entertainment. The Aquapark offers ""the most fun water of Istria"" and inspires young and old with fantastic slides, wonderful pools and a colorful animation and catering offer. A day in the park in the northern part of Istria near Novigrad offers an incredible amount of variety. On 80,000 m², families find more than 1.6 km slides, the highest waterfall slide and an amphitheater for concerts, ideas and animations for children and adults with 27 meters. While the little ones enjoy themselves in the children's pool with water castle and children's slide, the adults relax in the largest wave pool of the Mediterranean or in the hydromassage pool on two levels. Numerous sports offers and culinary delights round off the offer, so that a great family day is guaranteed during the holiday in Istria.

A trip to the aquarium is somewhat calmer, but no less exciting. Istria has two of them to offer. While one is in the center of Poreč, the other can score with a very special backdrop. The Pula aquarium is located in the Verudela fortress. This was transformed into a 2,000 m² aquarium in 2002 and shows numerous sea creatures of the Adriatic, but also animals from European rivers and lakes. From the roof of the fortress you also have a unique view of Pula and southern Istria. On the summer terrace in the fortress trench you can buy coffee, cool drinks and small snacks."
